In light of COVID-19 and the need we all now have for access to health care, the Colorado Division of Insurance announced a special enrollment opportunity for people who are uninsured. This opportunity is available until April 3. Why It’s Important: • In general, full-benefit (Affordable Care Act (ACA) plans are only available to individuals during the Open Enrollment period for the upcoming calendar year of coverage. That period ended January 15 for the 2020 plan year.
• People needing ACA-compliant insurance during the year, can enroll only if they experience a Life Change Event that qualifies them for a Special Enrollment Period (SEP).
• In light of the need for people to have access to health care—especially during the COVID-19 outbreak-- Colorado’s action creates a SEP for people currently uninsured to enroll now.
Who is Eligible: Anyone in Colorado who does not have other full-benefit insurance may enroll in a plan from now until April 3, 2020. Whenever you enroll, the plan will start April
